Email: Fraser Davidson

Fraser Davidson is a research scientist with DFO based at the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador since 2003. Fraser obtained his PhD from Memorial University in 1999. He has worked at the University of New South Wales in Canberra, Australia on internal tides, at the French research council LEGOS laboratories in Toulouse, France and with MERCATOR-Ocean, the French ocean forecasting service in Toulouse France. His research interests include regional ocean forecasting, wind driven ocean current dynamics, validation of ocean forecast systems, as well as applications of ocean forecasting to various areas of research including biology and search and rescue drift theory to name a few. Fraser participates in the DFO Centre for Ocean Model Development and Application (COMDA), a DFO virtual centre of excellence. He also collaborates on the GODAE (Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment) Science working team. Fraser leads the CNOOFS Canadian pilot project in operational oceanography to implement and validate a new operational ocean forecasting system for DFO and Environment Canada.
